Stitched Together: The Raising KC Quilt Exhibit
Johnson County Library celebrated the power of positive relationships with a powerful interactive display during the Fall of 2025. Local artists from Ampersand Design Studio and Tia Curtis Quilts have created the iconic RaisingKC Quilt, depicting moments and people who contribute to our safe, stable and nurturing community. This 10 ft. x 10 ft. textile was the centerpiece honoring families and caregivers.
The exhibition included the quilt, resources from the RaisingKC initiative, access to the Behavior Checker® tool and a hands-on activity for visitors to reflect on the role of caring adults in their lives. Participants engaged with a community message wall or participated in a creative kindness mural.
We are so proud that our RaisingKC Quilt was selected as the cover visual (above) for Johnson County Library’s Fall 2025 Guide.
The RaisingKC Quilt has circulated around our metro area to shine a light on the organizations who help us raise KC. This exhibit included:
- Resources from the RaisingKC initiative
- Access to interacting with the Behavior Checker® tool
- Community Quilt-Making: RaisingKC Quilt Coloring Squares for visitors to design and add to a special wall creation
- An Affirmation Station for visitors to express hope and encouragement and take home inspiration
- A station for children K-12 to nominate a caring adult as their “Kindest Kansas Citian”, the 36th Annual Program honoring those who make a difference in a child’s life through safe, stable, adult-child relationships
It was a special space for everyone to learn, connect and celebrate positive relationships.
