Hear her firsthand reports about parenting strategies learned from living with families in three of the world’s most venerable communities: Mayan families in Mexico, Inuit families above the Arctic Circle, and Hadzabe families in Tanzania, and how she applied their techniques to her own parenting with striking results. Doucleff will report on conversations with psychologists, neuroscientists, anthropologists, and sociologists, and describe how these strategies impact all children, plus answer audience questions. Michaeleen Doucleff, PhD, is an award winning journalist, New York Times bestselling author, and a prominent voice on parenting and child psychology. As a correspondent for NPR’s Science Desk and NPR’s global health and development blog, Doucleff focuses on disease outbreaks, cross-cultural parenting, and children’s health. In 2014, she was part of the team that earned a George Foster Peabody award for their coverage of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. She is also the author of Dopamine Kids. Doucleff has a doctorate in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, and a master’s degree in viticulture and enology from the University of California, Davis.
